Staff Lounge, Pro 30/30 Hour, Asking Pros to Dance
We’re trying some ideas this year to create more enjoyable and less pressured environment for our staff, which we believe will make them want to spend more time in the ballroom.
Staff Lounge:
The roped off lounge by the DJ is for staff only, and a staff wristband is required.
- This gives the staff a space to gather, focus, relax, rest, and/or decompress.
- During working hours this is needed so the staff can better focus on doing their jobs.
- During social dancing and other times when they are not working, this gives the staff a comfortable space to make them more likely to spend time in the ballroom.
- If a staff member brings you into the staff lounge you are allowed to be the area for that instance, however, that does not mean you can continue to enter through the rest of the weekend.
- This also applies to the lounge on the stage during Saturday late night.
Pro 30/30 hour:
For 1 hour during Friday late night nothing will change about social dancing except please do not ask our professional staff to dance.
- This is intended to give our pros an opportunity to freely move about the ballroom and ask different attendees to dance, as well as to give our pros an opportunity to freely dance with each other
- For 30 min pros will be asked to dance with attendees and not each other.
- For 30 min pros will be given the opportunity to dance uninterrupted with each other or attendees as they please.
- Exact time is TBA. We will announce when it is starting and will also announce repeatedly during the hour that it is happening.
- During this hour our pros will be asked to decline invitations from attendees to dance and inform them of the 30/30 hour.
Asking Pros to Dance:
Our professional staff is encouraged, but not required, to social dance and doing so is their choice. We believe that a more fun and less pressured environment will make them more likely to want to social dance and stay out longer.
Attendees are of course allowed to ask the pros to dance, however:
- Please do not form lines to ask pros, do not chase/follow around/stalk pros, and do not physically grab pros. They are not a ride at Disneyland and they are not prey to be hunted.
- Please respect when they are resting, taking a break, engaged in a conversation etc.
- Staff members are allowed to say no. Please do not pressure or guilt trip them if they do.
- Please do not film the pros social dancing without their consent.
- Honestly these are good tips when it comes to anyone not just pros.
